Festive Events in Sidmouth

Colourful characters from Sidmouth's Christmas Carnival
• Sidmouth Christmas Carnival procession is a lively, colourful event with fun for all the family.

Traders in Sidmouth are gearing up to welcome shoppers from across East Devon to the town’s late night shopping extravaganza

Sidmouth traders are throwing open their doors for an evening of festive shopping in the town on Friday, December 8.

Shoppers from across East Devon are invited to sample the town’s vast selection of Christmas gift ideas in the event organised by Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce.

Hot chestnut stalls, touring carol singers, a hog roast and Father Christmas will be among added attractions to ensure a festive spirit fills the town.

Gemini FM’s Black Thunder vehicle will also be making an appearance.

Shops taking part in this special evening will open until 8pm, providing an extra window of shopping opportunity for those needing more time to source those special presents.

Chris Taylor, chairman of Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is an ideal time for shoppers from across the region to come and enjoy what Sidmouth has to offer. We have a great selection of shops.”

Many traders will use the occasion to thank shoppers for their custom during the year and will have wine and mince pies on offer.

The Sidmouth Herald will be using the evening to thank its readers and advertising customers and will have a special readers’ offer (as well as a tray of mince pies) running during the evening.

From Christmas bingo to carol services, late night shopping to the Christmas carnival procession and all manner of events in between, there is a full range of events for all the family in Sidmouth and the surrounding area this coming festive period
