The police were out catching dangerous drivers on the A3052 in Sidford last week.

The Neighbourhood Policing Teams together with colleagues from the Roads Policing Team, No Excuses Team and Special Constabulary completed a proactive operation on the A3052 on Friday evening (May 5).

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Rural East Devon Policing team said: "As you will no doubt know, this road is the location of all too many of the collisions that we attend in East Devon. Our operation this evening aimed at safeguarding those who utilise the road, particularly focusing our efforts on those who pose a danger to other road users."

The operation used a range of marked and unmarked police vehicles fitted with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras, and fixed speed enforcement sites.

The drivers, the police stopped were: 

  • Driving without displaying their lights
  • Having an insecure load and failing to display their vehicle registration mark
  • Driving with No Insurance and No MOT
  • Inconsiderate and Dangerous Driving
  • Arrests for Possession With Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug
