A new Tree Trail map has been created by Sidmouth Arboretum, focusing on a route around The Byes.
The Byes Trail is a gentle one-mile stroll, taking walkers in a figure-of-eight loop from the Toll House gate up to Sid Park Road.
This section of The Byes contains more than 200 trees of more than 50 species. They are not all included in the leaflet, but it contains plenty of information on a large number of the trees, along with photos to help identify them.
The Arboretum, a volunteer community group set up 10 years ago to promote the Sid Valley's remarkable treescape, has already produced a number of different trail maps, including Salcombe Regis and Sidbury, which are very popular with visitors.
Copies of the Byes Trail leaflet, which are free thanks to funding from Sidmouth Town Council, are available from the Tourist Information Centre and online from the Sidmouth Arboretum website.
