Sidmouth artist, Jacqueline Tovey is getting ready to exhibit 'A Life's Work" at Kennaway House this month.

Taking place from August 23 to 29th from 10am to 4.30pm daily. Jacqueline Tovey paints flowers, wild animals, landscapes and seascapes, in oil, she will show innovative pictures of dinosaurs, outlined in local sand and grit, coloured with car spray paint and finished with oil paint.

Mounted prints are available of six of these.  There are also fish in this style and, being waterproof and steam-proof, they are suitable for kitchens, bathrooms or even a fish restaurant.

She has also produced a number of abstract paintings too. Machine embroidery, creative textile and felt pictures feature in this exhibition.  Her butterfly pictures start with a white cotton velvet cloth, first dyed then partly sprayed with dark blue ink.  Once this is dry, wooden printing blocks from India are dipped into bleach to produce the design.  The bleach removes the ink but not the dye.
