The Sidmouth Steppers have presented cheques for £350 to Sidmouth Voluntary Services and Sid Valley Memory Cafe.

The money was collected by the North West Morris side who danced on Sidmouth seafront on Tuesday evenings during the summer, and was rounded up by the Sidmouth Steppers who have connections with both charities.

The presentations took place last Tuesday (September 26) at the Guide Hut.

Beforehand the Steppers went to St Peter's Church hall in Sidford to meet the Sidford Brownies. They answered questions from the girls about their clogs, costumes and badges, and then taught them a dance called Shrewsbury Flourish.

The Brownies learned the dance in groups of six and then performed it - earning a badge for their achievements.

The Sidmouth Steppers are keen to attract new members - female dancers and male or female musicians. A taster session is taking place next Tuesday (October 10) at 7.30pm at the Guide Hut.
