A fresh flood warning has been issued for the River Axe after continued heavy rain.

Flooding to riverside properties and roads is expected as river levels continue to rise, and a yellow weather warning for rain is in place for the whole of today (Thursday, December 7).

The warning on the Gov.uk website states that property flooding is expected at Chard Junction, and Axe Farm, Coaxdon and Weycroft cottages at Broom. Highway flooding is expected at Tytherleigh and Broom, the A358 crossing at Weycroft, the A35 at Yarty Bridge, the A3052 at Colyford, and Whitford to Musbury.

Sidmouth Herald: Flood alert areas marked in yellow

Meanwhile a flood alert is in place for the rivers Otter and Sid, and the Exmouth area.  Flooding is possible in Lympstone, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Honiton, Ottery St Mary, Sidbury, Sidford and Sidmouth. River levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to rivers.

The Environment Agency, which issues flood warnings and alerts, will be monitoring the situation closely and will update the website as the situation changes.
