Otter Silver Band has received an early Christmas present in the form of a £300 cheque from Otter Valley Rotary.
The two organisations joined the West Hill branch of the Royal British Legion for their annual Christmas carol singalong on Saturday, December 16. Rotary members served mince pies, sausage rolls and mulled wine, and club president Ken Chun presented the cheque, which will help the band with the cost of buying instruments.
This week the Rotary Club also visited the local Memory Cafe and handed out Christmas presents.
The club held its own Christmas dinner at the Tumbling Weir Hotel. There was a quiz and raffle, and long-serving member Arthur Passey received his 40-year certificate from Ken Chun.
Otter Valley Rotary supports a wide range of other organisations and events, including Honiton Primary School, Honiton Food Bank, Ottery Christmas Tree Festival, Ottery Tar Barrels and Operation Rudolf.
