Sidmouth College students saw their hard work pay off as their A-level results capped off another year of excellent academic and personal achievements for the youngsters.

The school has built on the successes of 2015 and 2016 with another strong set of results.

Staff, parents and friends of the college shared in the celebrations as year 13 students arrived to collect their examination results and consider their next steps.

Their performance reflected the fantastic spirit, commitment and motivation of this year group, and the support of their families in ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Principal James Ingham-Hill said: “This is an outstanding set of results and is testament to the hard work and commitment that this fantastic cohort has put into their studies. They deserve their success.

“We wish all our departing students well as they move on to the next phase of their lives and hope that they continue to succeed in all that they do.”

Some 29 per cent of the grades were A* or A, up from 28 per cent last year and 22 per cent in 2015.

A*s to Bs made up 61 per cent of the grades, and 90 per cent of students got at least a C.

Every single student passed their A-levels, on a par with last year.

There were stellar results for Jamie Newbery, who got A*AA, Callum Allison (A*AB), Beth Hall (AAB) and Jasmine Bartlett (AAB).

It will be the turn of the GCSE students next Thursday (August 24).
