You can now bid to take over the concession of Sidmouth’s iconic deck chairs.

East Devon District Council announced today (March 16) it is welcoming offers for the rights to hire the deckchairs for up to three seasons.

The concession includes putting the chairs out between 9am and sunset on The Esplanade and Connaught Gardens between April 1 and September 30.

Potential offer should state the proposed licence fee for the remaining 2017 season and the proposed fee for seasons 2018 and 2019.

Submissions should be submitted by email to or by post to Property Services, East Devon District Council, Knowle, Sidmouth EX10 8HL to arrive no later than noon on Friday, June 30.
