Static cyclists have raised £450 in a charity cycle marathon on Sidmouth High Street.

Sidmouth Bike Studios recruited a team from Hays Travel in Sidmouth and firefighters from Clyst St George for the static challenge last Friday.

The firefighters donated their half of the total to Fire Aid Nepal to send disused equipment and disaster relief equipment to the country.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service will also send a team out in November to help train the Nepali Fire Service.

The team from Hays Travel donated their proceeds to Sidmouth Lifeboat.

Matthew Meeks, who runs Sidmouth Bike Studios with his wife, said: “I feel the day was a massive success.

“The amount of money we raised exceeded our expectations and we are grateful to everyone who donated.

“We performed five back-to-back static cycling sessions in the very hot, sunny conditions outside Hays Travel.”
