Pianist Craig Milverton is the third jazz great, joining the "clarinet summit" at Budleigh Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 19. He'll be accompanying clarinettists Ken Peplowski and Julian Marc Stringle.

Archant

FOUR years into its stride, the Budleigh Jazz Festival (April 18-21) continues to present jazz of the highest quality.

This year three jazz greats are joining forces on the same stage on the same night to create a “clarinet summit” on Saturday, April 19.

American Ken Peplowski was last seen at Budleigh back in 2010. One of the finest exponents of clarinet, he’s also an outstanding tenor saxophonist.

He’s joined by Julian Marc Stringle, one of Britain’s leading jazz clarinettists. Stringle has performed with a diverse range of pop and rock artists, but jazz remains his first love.

Craig Milverton is the third jazz great. Voted Jazz Pianist of the Year 2010 at the British Jazz Awards, his legendary “comping” and fiery soloing will provide the perfect underpinning for the two reedsman.

The concert starts at 7.30pm in Budleigh Public Hall. Tickets are £17.50. A full festival weekend ticket is £60.

Tickets available from: The Card Shop Too, High Street, Budleigh Salterton (01395 446767) or Tony Dealler, Shire House, Cricket Field Lane, Budleigh Salterton EX9 6PB (01395 446524). Email: deallers@uwclub.net
