There were a record number of entries at Sidmouth’s Classic Car Show, held on the cricket field at Fortfield, in glorious sunshine, on Saturday, September 15.

Nearly four hundred cars were on display, and around five thousand people attended.

The show, which was being held for the fifth time, is organised by Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce, under the guidance of retired estate agent, Michael Lavers. He himself owns a number of classic cars, including a Jaguar which has been in his possession for 32 years. He is also a keen member of Devon’s Crash Box Club, which supports the show.

Elegant cars were often matched by occupants in stylish vintage costumes reflecting their car’s antecedents. The show is noted for the range of cars and motorcycles that enter, so a vast range of motoring history was on display: everything from the Sidmouth Toastrack, and Austin Sevens to modern-day Ferraris and McClarens.
