Body pulled from the water at Jacob’s Ladder

BODY FOUND: Body was taken to Sidmouth Lifeboat HQ

THE body of a woman was recovered from the sea at Sidmouth beach on Saturday evening.

Emergency services were called to Jacob’s Ladder at around 5pm following reports of a body floating in the water.

A woman was pulled from the sea and pronounced dead at the scene, a police spokesperson confirmed. Ambulance, coastguard and lifeboat crews attended the incident. The Herald understands the body was taken to Sidmouth Lifeboat’s Esplanade headquarters to wait for undertakers, who arrived shortly after.
