EAST Devon District Council held a successful evening event aimed at encouraging more people to engage in local democracy.

Guest speakers included Elizabeth Price from the Houses of Parliament Outreach Service.

She was followed by Julian Bassham from the Cabinet Office and Exmouth youngster George Downs, from the Youth Parliament, and Alfie Weaver of Sidmouth.

The teenagers spoke about the importance of having a say in local politics and their perception of electoral representation and voting.
