Devon’s recycling heroes will be celebrated at a new awards ceremony as the county’s green campaign enters its 10th year.

To thank residents, the Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee (DAWRRC) is asking for nominations for the eco-warriors who go out of their way to help the environment.

This month marks a decade of the Don’t Let Devon Go to Waste campaign, which has seen the recycling rate reach 55 percent, the highest in the UK.

Chairman of DAWRCC, Councillor Mike Walters said: “These awards really celebrate all the great work in our communities, whether it’s been setting up compost groups, collections in schools or an employee who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

“I would really encourage people to look around their local areas and put anyone forward who they think deserves this award.”

There are seven categories in the awards, and nominations can be made before November 18 at www.recycledevon.org/thankyouawards.
