The culmination of months of hard work was a moment of mixed emotions as Sidmouth College students collected their A-level results yesterday.

The school followed the national trend of fewer top grades and an increase in youngsters considering their options rather than necessarily going to university.

Principal Kenny Duncan said: “Most students attained of exceeded their target grades, despite warnings from Ofqual that grades were likely to dip following major changes to the exams system across the country this year.”
