A teenage chef from Beer wowed the judges with her local seafood to win the Devon Rotary Young Chef Competition.
Zoe Sing used scallops and sea bass from her home village to create a stunning three course menu, which culminated in boiled egg and soldiers with a twist.
The 15-year-old’s creative flair came to the fore as she cooked a crème brulée in an egg shell and served with brioche soldiers and a raspberry coulis for dessert at the competition on January 16
Zoe, who got through to the final of the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland Young Chef Competition last year, now moves through to the South West counties final in February and the ‘Springboard Young Chef’ semi-final as well.
But the aspiring teen cook, who goes to St Margaret’s School in Exeter, will be hoping to go one better this year after finishing second in the contest to create a three-course meal in under two hours at Stratford upon-Avon College last April.
