Hospiscare is excited to launch a brand new event and is calling on the public to get their tweed on to support the East Devon Day Hospice Appeal.

A Jolly Good Jaunt is a sponsored walk through the glorious countryside of Honiton. There will be a choice of two walks to take part in – five or 13 miles - so there will be something for everyone.

The walk will start and end at The Deer Park Country Hotel near Honiton, and to complete the rural theme Hospiscare is encouraging people to wear something tweed for the event, which takes place on Sunday, October 5. This can be a tweed jacket, cap or even a hanky in a jacket pocket.

The Jolly Good Jaunt is being sponsored by Axminster Tools and Machinery, who are in partnership with the East Devon Appeal. It has pledged to raise £10,000 throughout the year.

Managing director Ian Styles added: “As a growing family business there is a likelihood that at some point in all our lives, Hospiscare will be supporting some of us, our relatives and friends. It is so important for businesses like ourselves to recognise the value and high quality care Hospiscare gives to people and their families that are terminally ill.”

The local charity, which cares for the terminally ill, hopes the event will raise £20,000 towards the new day hospice in King Street, Honiton.

Event fundraiser Hannah Slater said: “Hospiscare is really excited to launch this new event in aid of the new day hospice. A Jolly Good Jaunt is going to be a really fun day out. Having two walks allows everyone to take part; this will be very much a community event and we hope to see families, dog owners, teenagers and all generations showing their support.”

To take part or for more information visit www.hospiscare.co.uk or call the fundraising team on 01392 688020. Currently Hospiscare has an early bird offer of adults just £10 and children £5. Enter before July 31.
