Fields of Sidmouth staff are still enjoying the kudos of being named Best Retailer months after the first Sid Valley Business Awards.
The prize was presented in January by Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Herald in a celebration of the town’s many diverse, independent enterprises.
Trevor Roberts, one of the department store’s directors, said: “Fields were very proud to win.
“By 8.30am on Monday morning the plaque was in the main fashions window and a copy of the certificate placed at all 12 tills.
“Staff received many favourable and gratifying comments from customers.
“Winning was a huge morale booster for the staff, who take great pride in their jobs and professionalism of the company.
“The awards were an excellent medium of bringing such varied businesses together.
“Many people were surprised at the number of diverse enterprises available in the Sidmouth area.”
