Gear up for Sidmouth’s Fairtrade Fortnight

Campaigners are gearing up for a range of events in Sidmouth to celebrate Fairtrade fortnight.

This year, Sidmouth Fairtrade group will kick off with a treasure hunt.

Eagle eye hunters of all ages will need to be on the hunt for Fairtrade support stickers, which will be found in windows, doors and inside buildings around the town.

Entry forms are available from the Library and Co-op store and should be returned to the Library by Saturday 3 March. The prize-giving will take place at a Fairtrade Coffee Morning at the Library on Saturday, 10 March.

Wendy Spratling, the town’s Fairtrade group co-ordinator, said: “We think the competition will prove a fun way to showcase the many places where Fairtrade goods can be purchased locally.

“We are delighted to see local businesses and organisations getting on board, and hope that more will follow suit as demand for ethically traded products grows.”

The fortnight will run from February 26 until March 11 and also includes meet the tea grower on March 1 at 2pm in All Saints Church Hall.

There will also be chance to tuck into a Fairtrade breakfast at the Methodist Church Hall and an afternoon tea in St Francis Church Hall on March 4. Admission to events is free.
