Kidney victim’s mum says ‘thank-you’

PUBLISHED: 10:26 25 March 2014 | UPDATED: 10:26 25 March 2014

A MUM whose son has just a five per cent chance of a successful kidney transplant says she is ‘thrilled’ an event she organised to help patients like him raised £700.

Jenny Pring has issued a heartfelt thank-you all those who assisted her in staging a coffee morning at Sidbury Village Hall last Thursday, March 13, that netted the ‘marvellous’ sum.

The Burnt Oak resident was inspired to raise money for and awareness of Kidney Research UK by her 41-year-old son Jason.

Jenny, 64, donated a kidney to former Sidmouth College student Jason when he was eight-years-old only to see it fail 30 years later in 2011.

The family hoped to raise the profile of the illness and money to boost research to give patients a better quality of life – and were delighted with how last Thursday went.

Helpers included neighbours and Sidbury Women’s Institute and generous donations were made towards a raffle.

“I was absolutely thrilled,” said Jenny.

“Like ourselves, Jason was overwhelmed. I’d like to do it again at some point. It went brilliantly.”
