East Devon prostate cancer patients will benefit after a charity donated £125,000 to bring pioneering robotic surgery to the area.
The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is investing in a state-of-the-art Da Vinci Robot, which is capable of manipulating tissue in the same way as a surgeon.
The Chestnut Appeal also donated £100,000 to bring Brachytherapy to the area seven years ago, a treatment that has now been successfully integrated.
Charity director Lesley-Ann Simpson said: “I’m really pleased to once again ensure we’re at the forefront of prostate cancer care and are able to continue to offer the very latest in treatments for the men of our region.”
She said it was a wonderful start to Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
