ATTENTION: Exmouth Community College pupils were made to stand to attention when their regular teachers were replaced by the Army.

Soldiers visited the college to set a series of tasks for pupils, testing them on their communication, team work, mental and physical skills.

A college spokesperson said: “The college has long standing relationships with the Army and the Royal Marines, and our students gain a great deal through meeting and working with members of both forces.”

FAMILY BINGO: The latest family bingo evening is taking place at Marpool Primary School. It is being held in the school hall in Moorfield Road tomorrow. Doors open at 6pm for eyes down at 6.30 pm. There are some great prizes to be won. Refreshments will be on sale and there will also be a raffle. All profits will go to the school PTA fund.

RIVETING RIOTS: Personalities and Politics in East Devon is the theme of the talk that follows Exmouth Historical and Archaeological Society’s AGM on Monday, February 6.

The event, at 6.30pm, is being held at the Salvation Army Hall, in Sheppards Row, off Exeter Road.

The illustrated talk, from Castle Drogo to Riots -1885-1945, will be given by Derek Smith. Admission is £2 for visitors.

BOOK SALE: A bric-a-brac and book sale is being held in All Saints Church Hall, Withycombe Raleigh, on Saturday, February 4, in aid of church funds. The event is from 10am-noon. Refreshments will be available.
