A SIDMOUTH woman has celebrated landing £1,800 for Devon Air Ambulance after completing her 10th London Marathon.
Fiona Cummins, 49, of Seafield Lane, completed the challenge in the capital in just under four hours in April – and this week revealed her fundraising total.
“I started with some of the celebrity runners, including Ed Balls and Michelle Roux Jnr.
“The crowds were the biggest I have seen spurring us all on when things were becoming tough. I managed to see all my family and many Sidmouth supporters that were positioned throughout the route to keep me going.”
Sidmothian Fiona’s mum, Alison Marchant, and daughter, Sasha Hargrave, have been to every marathon she has run and supported her ‘through thick and thin’.
“They always stand at Canary Wharf, around 19 miles and just where I am beginning to get tired,” she said.
“It is when I see their smiling faces I know the next time I see them will be at the end in Horse Guards Parade.”
Fiona thanked her employer, Harrison-Lavers & Potburys, and everyone else who made a donation.
“It is a charity very close to my heart and you never know when you may need its services,” she said of Devon Air Ambulance.
