Individuals from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Indonesia, South Korea and Puerto Rico have signed up to be mock inhabitants of NoWhereIsland – and Sidmouth residents have been invited to join the list.

The island– which measures 40 by eight metres and was discovered in 2004 by artist Alex Hartley in the High Arctic region of Svalbard – arrives in Exmouth in August.

The £500,000 Arts Council-funded project will coincide with the 2012 Jurassic Coast Earth Festival and visit seven ports and harbours during the London Olympics and Paralympics.

Since the end of last month citizens have been contributing proposals for an ongoing constitution.

The closing dates for individuals or groups top make their submissions is March 30.

When the island visits Exmouth it is expected to be moored offshore opposite Beach Gardens.

On land will be the island’s embassy and mobile museum, which will be the site for free events and activities.
