Police say action will be taken to deal with motorists who park illegally at Sowden End in Lympstone.
Vehicles have been spotted parked on double yellow lines, on the slipway, and on the foreshore, raising safety concerns.
Police Community Support Officer Sarah Trayhurn said: “Civil enforcement officers will be dealing with the double yellow lines, and we’ll be dealing with any obstruction on the slipway.
“Parking on the beach itself contravenes Natural England regulations, so they’ll be looking after that.”
PCSO Trayhurn says the police will first attempt to speak with and educate offenders, rather than hand out tickets immediately.
“We’ll be carrying out regular patrols, and we’d like to deal with it by local resolution rather than sticking tickets on.
“We’re aware parking is an issue there, as there isn’t any, but it’s a question of safety and keeping it clear for emergency vehicles and other users.
“Everyone we’ve spoken to so far has been very co-operative.”
