SWIMMERS are being encouraged to take on a four-kilometre challenge from Sidmouth to Ladram Bay to boost a pair of charities.
Around 80 people are expected to take part in the event – in aid of Sidmouth Lifeboat and the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer - on Sunday, June 16.
The fundraiser was dreamt up by Kate Jackson, an experienced open water swimmer who is part of the East Devon Babes trio set to swim The Channel in July.
“We train in the sea all year round at Sidmouth and felt that we wanted to raise both awareness and sponsorship for the lifeboat based there,” she said.
David Squires, of the Chestnut Appeal, said: “We are delighted to have been asked by Kate to join this very exciting event.”
Registration (£30) includes full safety cover, an event T-shirt and swim cap, a medal on completion and an end-of-swim snack.
