Group leave on October 12 for trip working with children’s charity, for which they have been fundraising

A group of students from The King’s School will travel to southern India this month.

The year 13 students, accompanied by two staff, will visit Kerala and Tamil Nadu to learn about the Indian culture and help out at a children’s home.

They will spend five days at the Goodwill Children’s Home in Tamil Nadu, which is run by a UK charity.

There they will teach lessons to the children, aged five to 11, socialise with them and carry out maintenance work.

They will also visit one of
he 25 villages the charity supports.

The students have been raising money for the charity by washing cars at Otter Garden Centre, entertainment evenings and cake sales.

The local community has donated items for the children and families looked after by the charity, including toys and basic toiletries.

The Pain Adventure Trust in Exmouth has also donated cash, and Honiton Sports has given new but obsolete school uniform clothing for the villagers.
