A successful year of dancing has helped Sidmouth Steppers to raise £1,600 to keep Devon Air Ambulance up in the air.

The group said it was a conscious effort from members as part of its 20th anniversary and support the charity, which is the only county to fly two air ambulances.

The steppers raised the
final total through donations and collections throughout the
year including their day of dance, May Day dance out and ceilidh.

Liz Clode, squire and original member, said: “This year, due
to it being the anniversary
year, we chose the charity pre-season and made a conscious effort to advertise the charity and promote steppers along the way.

“We had a banner made to
let people know it was our
20th anniversary and that we were collecting for DAAT which was a great idea.

“We also made a special effort to dance locally with the banner displayed.”
