The MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Tuesday (January 2) and Wednesday (January 3) as Storm Eleanor blows in.

East Devon could be battered by 70mph winds this week as Storm Eleanor blows in, according to the MET Office.

A yellow warning for wind is in place for 24 hours from 6pm tonight (Tuesday, January 2) across the region.

Weather experts are warning that Storm Eleanor will bring ‘very strong winds’ into the area and coastal communities could be affected by spray from the sea.

The MET Office is saying that winds of up to 70mph are likely in coastal areas and 80mph in exposed locations.

People are also being warned that public transport could be affected or cancelled and that there may also be power cuts.

Update: Gusts are on Wednesday (January 3) are expected to reach between 45 and 50mph in places inland while coastal communities could be subjected to 65mph winds. Gusts are expected to ease through the day.
