Tipton St John Primary School has retained its ‘outstanding’ status in its latest SIAMS school inspection.

A National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) inspector praised the distinctiveness and effectiveness at the Church of England school.

The report said: “Children appreciate that everyone is unique and should be treated with respect regardless of background. They have a keen sense of fairness and the need to ensure justice both within school and in the wider community.”

The school, which is part of the Ottery Valley Federation with Feniton Primary School was praised for its vision bringing the communities together.

Executive headteacher Colin Butler said: “We are very pleased and proud to see that the very strong Christian ethos, which permeates the whole school, has been experienced by the inspector and this has resulted in such an outstanding report.

“The school and the churches work in harmony to provide the pupils with a rock solid Christian base to their lives which will stand them in good stead in the years to come.”

The archdeacon of Exeter Christopher Futcher will present the school with an ‘outstanding’ certificate next week.
