A3052 shut but traffic being diverted
A COACH which burst into flames on the A3052’s junction to Beer at Hangman’s Stone had just finished a school run.
Herald reporter Stephen Sumner, who is at the scene, says part of the A3052 has been closed, but a diversion through Beer is in place.
He has been told the 49-seater coach was being used as a school bus to take pupils from Axminster to Seaton and was returning to its base in Hontion - after dropping off its final passenger - when the flames erupted.
“The coach has been gutted by the blaze,” said Stephen.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 4.11pm and are currently still there.
A police spokesperson said the blaze ‘melted the road’ and the driver was safe.
