A group of volunteers have spent the winter months sprucing up part of a Sidbury path ready for the summer.

As part of the latest works, undergone by the Sidmouth Parish Paths Partnership, a clean up has been done of the East Devon Way, half way up Hatway Hill in Sandcombe Wood.

Volunteers spent every other Sunday morning, throughout the winter months, cutting back hedges to make the path wider in parts, strimming the grass, trimming back overgrowth and making flint stone walk ways through boggy sections of the wood.

As well as this volunteers also helped to clear out peaty material under the raised board walk and replaced the weld mesh on the raised board walk.

Volunteer Ian Collins said: “This part of the East Devon Way features heavily in the Sidmouth Walking Festival.

“We are really chuffed with what we have done. It is for the whole community to enjoy, not just residents but visitors too.”
