IT was a blaze of lights and colours, with thousands of people lining the route of Sidmouth’s carnival, on its new earlier date in the East Devon circuit season.

Floats from miles around came to entertain residents, and Sidmouth’s own floats, the Sid Vale Carnival Club’s Mickey’s Express and Tango Juvenile Carnival Club’s Horror Express brought home the honours. Mickey’s Express was named best float overall in the parade.
