Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club men’s first team claimed an emphatic win at home against Bridgwater 1 this weekend, winning 5-0, writes Andrew Coley.

The second team won by the same margin but in their case, Taunton Civil Service 1 forfeited the game, so it was an automatic 5-0 win for SOHC in what would have been a home fixture.

The third team travelled to Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets but came away empty-handed, losing 5-0. And with availability issues causing problems, the fourth team development side’s fixture was cancelled.

On the women’s side of the club, the first team played away at Taunton Civil Service and claimed an impressive away win, 2-5. The seconds entertained Taunton Vale 3 at home with the visitors gaining the win, 1-4.

The third team also had a home fixture, in their case against Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets 2, and claimed all the points with 2-0 win. And the fourth team travelled to Exeter 5 but couldn’t take any points from the game, with the home side winning 7-1.

With the season drawing to a close, there will be fewer fixtures across the club, with some of the teams having concluded their matches until September.
