All three of our teams in the Exeter over 60s League prospered well last week, each winning their matches, writes Ron Cook.
The C squad had their best result of the season picking up a maximum eight points playing away at Madeira.
This represents a great result for David Fairclough and his team.
The B squad had one win and a draw to collect seven points against Okehampton B at home whilst the A squad edged out Topsham A to collect six points.
Ray Tallent, Bob Daniels and Bob Seldon won by a comfortable margin of 15 shots to give the team a 13 overall shot advantage.
In the Tony Allcock National double mixed rink competition , Sidmouth played at Topsham on Sunday evening and came away with a 10 shot victory to progress to the third round.
Jill Bishop’s team including club captain Val Newnham, John Mason and David Hughes ran out 11 shots ahead of their opponents.
On the second rink Jean Brimson, Chris Hamer, Mike Borst and Ron Cook having got off to a good start found themselves 13-5 down at ten ends, but managed to fight back to lose by just one shot at 19-18.
During the day, our members had played a friendly match at Ottery St Mary and caught the worst of the weather.
Having played in pouring rain to the tea interval, the rink became very slippery and the match was abandoned at 10 ends.
