Somerset County Cricket Club hosted the first BIG Pink Balloon race, in support of the OSNA Fund Breast Cancer charity last Sunday.
People were invited to buy a balloon, which was let off during the tea break at the recent LV= County Championship Division One match between Somerset and Nottinghamshire, to try and win a number of prizes and support a worthwhile cause.
Over £7,500 was raised on the day, which is a big contribution to the £75,000 required to buy an Osna unit for the Breast Care Department at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
After the balloon release Sarah Miles, chairman of the OSNA fund said: “The event was a fantastic success, raising a substantial amount that will go towards this much needed equipment. I would like to thank Somerset CC for hosting the first ever Big Pink Balloon Race and everyone else who was involved.”
