Pontispool Equine Sport’s Centre will host its first ever Jumping and Style competition on Sunday, February 10.
The unaffiliated competition will be judged by British Eventing accredited judge Caroline Creighton and involves jumping a course of show jumps and then continuing straight on to a course of cross country fences against the clock.
Three classes, BE80 (75cm), BE90 (85cm) and BE100 (95cm) will take place with the courses built by international event rider Lucy Wiegersma.
The centre’s owner Richard Mitford-Slade said: “It’s the perfect warm up before the season gets going in March and because its being its being held on our all-weather arenas, no matter what the weather, the competition can still take place. If February’s event is successful, we’ll plan to do another later in the year.”
The entrances to Pontispool’s arenas will be modified so that competitors can jump from one to another and some real cross country fences, such as a ditch, will be included.
“It’s a really good way of testing the horse and rider in a fun environment, while getting some positive feedback from Caroline Crieghton too,” said Richard.
