Exeter Aces go down to Poole

Exeter Aces went down 94-83 when they met South and South Wales Cycle Speeway League.

Poole opened with a 7-3 win before the next two races were drawn.

In heat four gained a 6-4 advantage, followed by a drawn heat, then another two 6-4 heat advantages before a draw in heat eight.

In heat nine Andy Collett came down hard on his head and neck which resulted in him being excluded for being cause of the stoppage. Aaron Herbert did well to split the Poole pairing, but it was still another 6-3 for the visitors and they led 51-38 at the interval.

Exeter made a double change in heat 10 bringing in Aaron Herbert and Robert Croal. Herbert was excluded for taking a Poole rider to the extremes of the track. In the re-run Robert Croal split the Poole pairing with the Dorset side claiming a 6-3 heat advantage. The next race was a drawn before a 6-4 Poole win.

In heat 13 Poole’s Dean Hook was excluded for moving at the start and the home side took advantage of this exclusion to bag a 7-2 heat advantage. This left the score 70-57 in favour of the Dorset side.

Heat 15 went Exeter’s way at 7-3 and they bagged a 6-4 success in heat 16. There was then a drawn race before the final word went to the visitors at 7-3 for them to wrap up a 94-83 triumph.

In the Division 2, Exeter made amends for the week before a took the win. Poole started with a 7-3 only for Exeter to hit back with a 7-3. Exeter then gained a 6-4 heat advantage. Heat 4 produced a drawn heat. However Exeter then took a 7-3 heat advantage. This took this the scores to Exeter 28 - Poole 22. The next 2 heats were drawn. Exeter then took blood and gained a 7-3 followed by a 6-4 heat advantage. The last two races of the match where drawn heats. The final score Exeter 64 - Poole 56.

The final match of the day was the conference. Exeter were looking to continue their unbeaten run, whereas Poole were looking to end it. With both teams at the top of the table both were looking for the win. Exeter started the meeting with a 7-3 heat advantage. The next race was a drawn hear. Exeter then gained two 7-3 heat advantages. The scores at this stage were Exeter 26 - Poole 14. The next two races where drawn then Exeter gained another 7-3 heat advantage. Heat 8 saw Jack Herbert excluded for taking a Poole rider to the extremes of the track. Will Tidball still gave Exeter hope as he passed Callum Albin to keep Exeter in the lead. The scores Exeter 47 - Poole 32. Heat 10 Exeter gained another 7-4, followed by a 6-4. Exeter ended the meeting as they started it, with a 7-3. Final score Exeter 72 - Poole 47. With winning this match Exeter still remain at the top of the table.
