Axminster Town are in need search of two managers to lead their senior sides, writes Steve Birley.

The Tigers, already actively seeking someone to take on their Fresha League side – the Town Reserves – are now also looking for a new man to lead then 1st XI in their South West Peninsula League Eastern Division campaign.

Gary McCauley had been looking after the senior side since the start of last season, but was always known to favour a playing role and that’s what he wants to continue with.

Town chairman Ray Self says of the situation: “I fully understand Gary’s decision. He remains a very good player at our level and he’d prefer to be simply playing. I feel this is a superb opportunity for someone to come in and join us now at the start of something new and exciting. As a club we are nearing the move to our new home. Off the pitch things are moving at pace and I’d like to think there is someone out there who would like to be part of our development on the pitch. We have a good solid nucleus of players and once we are settled into our new surroundings I think well have a set up the envy of many clubs of our size and larger!”

Self continued: “We also need a person to run the reserves and that too offers a real opportunity for a coach to really get their teeth into a project.”
