Teenager Tom Badcott, who lives in Ottery, is on the books of Western League Premier side Wellington, but he has been plagued by injury problems and Wellington have agreed that ‘Badsey’, as the lad is better known in footballing circles, can train and play with his home town club until he has regained full fitness and will be up to the rigours of Western League football on a regular basis.

The player himself says: “I am very grateful to Ottery chairman Mikey Ringer for setting this up and also to Clive Jones at Wellington for giving it the green light.

“I am going to be working in a proper rehab programme organised by the three physios that they have involved at Ottery, including David Weeks, who was the Welsh national team physio, and it all ties in really well being able to link up with the Otters.”

He continued: “I am still targeting playing again in the Western League – at the very least – but for now it’s great that I can get some game time, hopefully with Ottery, who are clearly a very well run and a highly positive football club. They have a terrific chairman and a knowledgeable and enthusiastic manager and if they can get me back playing regular football again I will be buzzing beyond belief.”
