Sidbury 5, East Budleigh 0
Sidbury hosted local rivals East Budleigh in their ninth game of the season, and incredibly their seventh home game of the season.
With the home side sitting second and East Budleigh struggling at the other end of the table, Sidbury were confident they would take all three points.
On what turned out to be a very boggy pitch Sidbury started poorly and the first half was a very even contest with the Sidbury defence all over the place.
After a few choice words at half time by manager Schofield and coach Flack, Sidbury came out a different side and simply blew Budleigh away.
This was also helped by the pitch being a lot dryer at the end Sidbury were attacking. The first goal was just two minutes into the second half when Danny Green drilled a low shot into the bottom corner from 18 yards. Then on 60 minutes it was two when the ball was worked to the edge of box and fell to Dave Green who laid the ball to the Black Horse Man of the Match Glen Salter who drove the ball low into the net for his first for the club since his move from Tipton.
Five mins later it was 3-0 when Ashley Small pulled the ball back for Danny Green who smashed the ball home from eight yards.
It took two fine saves from Harvey at the other end to keep East Budleigh out, the pick of which was a flying finger tip save to deny what seemed to be a certain goal. Sidbury’s fourth goal was 10 minutes from time when sub Sam Elstub slid the ball under the keeper from a tight angle. Former city forward Flack for his first appearance for the club, should have scored but the ball got stuck under his feet; after sorting his feet he produced a great cross but Salter was too stretched to make good contact and score at the back post.
There was still time for another goal when Danny Green won and scored a penalty in the 87th minute and completed his first hat-trick of the season.
