Exmouth Town’s single goal defeat at Godolphin Atlantic leaves their bid to play Western League football next season out of their hands, writes Steve Birley.

The conceding of that first goal after ten hours of shut-outs means that Richard Pears’ men now sit second in the table behind new leaders Plymouth Parkway who hold a single point lead and have two games in hand.

Saltash also carry an interest in the battle for a coveted top two flight (that’s what Town require to make that application to move up to the Western League).

The Cornish side sit nine points behind the Southern Road men, but do have three games in hand and currently sit fourth with Ivybridge, who Exmouth Town visit next Monday (May 5) currently third in the table.

The top six in the table are:

P W D L F A Diff Pts

Plymouth Parkway 33 26 2 5 110 30 80 80

EXMOUTH TOWN 35 24 7 4 78 27 51 79

Ivybridge Town 35 23 5 7 90 50 40 74

Saltash United 32 22 4 6 87 30 57 70

Witheridge 34 21 4 9 77 42 35 67

Bodmin Town 33 20 7 6 65 32 33 67

The remaining fixtures for Exmouth Town, Plymouth Parkway and Saltash United are:

Monday, April 28: Bodmin Town versus PLYMOUTH PARKWAY
