A memorable headed goal from first team debutant Aaron Howe helped Colaton Raleigh move into a top six berth in the Fresha League Division Two table.

Tony Cox drilled home a close range shot to give the hosts a fifteenth minute lead. However, a dreadful mix-up in defence allowed Civil Service to equalise ten minutes later.

The home lead was restored when Adrian Parr ran through from the half way line to calmly slot home.

Just after there-start Tony Cox came close to extending the advantage when he headed against the woodwork.

The home team kept the pressure on and their endeavour was rewarded when Aaron Howe rose to head a corner kick from Parr to make it 3-1.

Chances were missed at both ends, before Civil Service exposed the home defence down their right flank to reduce the arrears.

The game was sealed in Raleigh’s favour, when player-boss Riki Pitter slid the ball home ten minutes from time.

A pleased Pitter said: “Since the extended winter break ended we have not performed as well as I know we can. However I saw the green shoots of recovery in this performance. Howe and the returning Darren Bennett both did well in defence and we thoroughly deserved the win. The lads all know that they will have to up their game to beat promotion chasing Bickleigh this Saturday. I believe we have the squad to do it.”
