Sidmouth Town fourth team moved four points clear at the top of the Macron League Division Eight table after a 10-0 home win over Amory Green Rovers Reserves.

Playing their third successive game at their Byes Lane home, the Town fourths served up what was without doubt one of their best all-round performances of the season.

Faced with a visiting team struggling at the foot of the table, the pre-match chat for the Town side involved the need to make a fast start to quickly end any thoughts the visitors might have of netting themselves a surprise win!

Town, to a player, were ‘at it’ from the first whistle. The goals came at regular intervals and many came as a direct result of the splendid midfield play from Jake Sellick and Ben Farrington, who took control of the midfield area from the early exchanges.

Jack Miller and Luke Spiller gave the team excellent width on either flank and strikers Louis Adey and Matt Rasmussen formed a lethal partnership. It all led to four first-half goals shared by Miller, Sellick and Rasmussen.

The team were asked to deliver more of the same in the second half – and they did just that, scoring a further six unanswered goals!

Ben Main, making a welcome return to action after an injury-enforced four-week lay-off, partnered Oliver Newton at the heart of the Town back line while full backs Adam Jago and Matt Jones – the latter retaining his place in the side – all produced solid and disciplined defensive displays and such was their control of the Town defensive third that glovesman Matt Skelding had little to do!

In terms of the second-half goal-scoring, Rasmussen led the way with four more to finish with five in the game.

Adey struck two more and there was a first fourth team goal for Will Ashby. Ben Main made way in the second half for Hayden Beckett to take over in the back line and Town saw the game out in total control.
