Sidmouth Raiders 0, Central City 4
Sidmouth Raiders Under-11 took to the pitch for the first time in three weeks and there was certainly an element of rustiness in the team’s performance.
The visitors opened the scoring in the first minute and never really looked back despite the usual amount of effort and hard work from the Raiders.
Struggling to get out of their own half for long periods and then failing to put any pressure on City meant it was a struggle for Henry Summerhayes up front.
The Raiders did put together a few minutes of passing football as the half wore on, but not until they were three goals down.
The second half was an improvement with the defence regaining some composure with CJ Abbot blocking and tackling superbly and Freddie Squire, Kieran Phillips and Eddie Rudolph working hard. Despite coming into the game more the Raiders still only managed one effort of note at goal, a long range effort that bounced just wide as City continued to dominate.
To their credit the boys never gave up and kept trying to the end of what was ‘one of those games’ for the team.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Raiders again meet Central opposition when they host Central United at 10.30am.
