Sidmouth Town set for East Devon derby at Axminster Town

Not a single ball was kicked in the South West Peninsula League Eastern Division on Saturday.

It all means that since the last match day that saw a full programme, Saturday, December 14, just ten fixtures have beaten the weather!

Only seven of those games have been played this year.

Sidmouth Town have played three times in the past eight weeks with their most recent outing being the 1-0 win at Plymstock United a fortnight ago.

Since their December 7 2-1 defeat at Newton Abbot Spurs, the Vikings have drawn 1-1 at Manstone Lane with Alphington and of course banked those three points at Plymstock.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Town make the short trip to Colyton School to face an Axminster Town side that has slipped to bottom place in the Eastern Division table.

When the teams met at Manstone Lane back on September 7 the Vikings were 2-0 winners.

In that game former Tigers player Arron Doble scored a first half goal and the points were secured five minutes from time thanks to a 20-yard strike by Kieran Fayter-Small.

The next five matches for Town are something of a mixed bag! They meet three of the current bottom four sides and also two of the top three!

After Saturday’s East Devon derby that host table-topping Teignmouth Town (February 1) and then entertain third placed Galmpton before they end the month with back-to-back away trips to Exeter University and Okehampton.
