Kenchington and Walker march on

19:12 06 May 2014

It was prize giving day for the Axe Cliff seniors last Friday covering medal matches and stableford meetings over the previous three months, writes Helen Kenworthy.

This was preceded by a 15-hole stableford for the Quarterly Cup.

Once again the pin positions made the scoring tricky and this was reflected in the scores.

The winner, with 30 points, was Sid Pember (20), one point ahead of two players who scored 29 points.

Second place on countback went to Phil Wilkins (15) with Chris Walker (15) having to settle for third spot.

There were two twos from Sid Pember and Chris Walker

The men’s section played the Seve Trophy on Sunday. The format was teams of three with two scores to count.

First place went to (on the back nine!) Paul Curtin, Danny Taylor and Geoff Greenslade.

Second was claimed by Basil Dean, Martin Cox and Dougy Board.

There were three twos from Basil Dean, Peter Petheridge and Richard Gibbons.

The Axe Cliff ladies played their Foursomes Cup last week.

Margaret Kenchington claimed first place with Sandra Walker second and Janet Dack taking third.

Sandra Walker and Margaret Kenchington travelled to Sidmouth on Monday to play the 1st round of the Devon County Ladies’ Vets better ball match play against Honiton.

The Axe Cliff duo were victorious. Well done, ladies.
