After the rain last week causing the competition to be cancelled, the dry weather on Wednesday was very welcome and saw a good field of ladies out on the course although not all had entered the County Prize Par Competition as it’s not everybody’s favourite format, writes Liz Chance.
The course and greens were in wonderful condition, despite the recent heavy rainfall, and the greenkeepers must be congratulated on their continual hard work to achieve this.
In spite of the course conditions, it still proved to be a challenging round for many! Well done to Linda Reynolds who came in with minus 2, also managing a hole in two. Three players finished with minus six, Yvonne Anning beating Jackie Bent on countback, with Margaret Thompson in fourth place.
●Two weeks ago saw the annual match in the ladies’ section where the lady captain’s team takes on the secretary’s team.
This year was my third and final attempt to win the trophy as my term of office as secretary finishes in January. I lost my game to Anne Blackler, lady captain, but my team came up trumps and triumph at last!
Match play is an unusual format on a Wednesday but it is always a enjoyable fun day…especially when you win!
