Otterton drag racer Baxter Williams and his father Gary were back in Lincolnshire last weekend where Baxter was in action at the George Brown Memorial Sprint.

The pair made the 300-mile trip on Friday evening, this after some last-minute assistance from the ever-reliable Big Pauls Garage in Sidbury, of whom Gary says: “Without Big Pauls Garage we would not have made the trip!”

Saturday saw lovely early morning sunshine and a dry track with about 100 entrants, all hoping to lay some rubber down and for records to fall as well as grab a personal best.

Thirteen-year-old Baxter quickly got into his stride and his times started to tumble with six runs being within 400th of a second of each other.

Dad Gary says: “After a quick refresh he bagged a 16-second run and managed a first place in his class. He has worked so hard to get to where he is and is hopeful of some more good times in the next few meets.”

As for next on the agenda for Baxter and his dad, there’s another meeting at Lincolnshire coming up and then the last knockings of the season will see him in action at Smeatharpe in October and November before Baxter, his machine, and his dad, have a well-earned winter rest!

The final word with dad Gary, who says: “We really cannot Big Paul enough for his on-going help and assistance and also we must say a huge thank you too to Dan Potter from Exmouth Motorcycles.”
